BUCHAREST, Dec. 22 (Xinhua) -- Romania's Foreign Ministry stressed on Friday that strengthening the rule of law and fighting corruption are among the government's priorities, in an answer to the common letter of seven European embassies in Romania.

"We took note of the point of view expressed by the seven partner and allies of Romania with respect to the recent development in the justice field," said the ministry in a release referring to the letter of the diplomatic missions made public on Thursday.

"While reassuring them about our firm attachment to the European Union's values, we expressed our openness to a real and concrete dialogue with our European partners, as we now have the laws adopted by Parliament," specified the ministry, stressing that Romania will also continue consultations with the European Commission.

"No initiative impacting the citizens is adopted without parliamentary debates, consultations and public communications organized with the relevant institutions and Parliament," said the release.

In their common letter, the embassies of Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, the Netherlands and Sweden to Romania remarked that the recently adopted laws concerning the justice reform, as well as the recent modifications brought to the Criminal Code and the Criminal Procedure Code, risk to endanger the progresses Romania made in the field of justice.

The diplomatic missions called on "all parties involved" in the justice reform process "to avoid any action that could lead to a weakening of the independence of the judiciary in Romania and fight against corruption."
