MACAO, July 25 (Xinhua) -- The awarding ceremony of the third Chinese and Portuguese translation competition was held in China's Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) recently, the Macao Polytechnic Institute (MPI) said on Thursday.

The event, organized by the Social and Cultural Bureau of the Macao SAR government, attracted 166 teams from 43 higher education institutions.

The MPI team won the first prize on Tuesday.

The teams from the University of Minho and the FAAP's Business Confucius Institute won the 2nd and 3rd prize, respectively.

The contest aimed to strengthen academic exchanges on Chinese-Portuguese translation, train professional talents and promote the application of the latest academic and scientific results, the organizers said.

A global portuguese teaching manual set was also published at the ceremony to help train the students.
