NEW DELHI, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- At least 11 people died after a boat capsized in India's central state of Madhya Pradesh, media reports said on Friday.

The incident took place on Friday morning when a boat carrying around 16 people capsized during a religious event of the immersion processions of "Lord Ganesha" idols at Khatlapura Ghat in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.

Police have rescued five persons, reports said, adding that a search operation is underway.
